But guys, hear me out, Jay stays evil for all of season 3 and actually DOESN'T get his memories back ever.

He doesn't remember Nya, he doesn't remember ever falling in love with her. She keeps trying to get him to remember, basically, in his eyes, stalking him and continuing to try and manipulate him into joining their side, when she was the reason he was discarded in the first place. I'm not saying he'd follow Ras like a blind puppy, more that he hates both of them, and himself with it. He believed Ras when he said he was a warrior, a fierce one at that. But then Nya came along, saying these sweet things about loving him, just to rip the little bit of true identity he had gained away from him, embarrassing him, shunning him from his savior, the past he believes he had and the only semblance of friendship he's ever had. Just for her to continue to try and sweet talk him right after she'd beaten him. I'd hate her too, honestly. Now she took some guy you don't know with her to come track you down, with the same bittersweet words of "I love you" falling from her mouth again and again. I think it'd become a parallel to the early seasons of ninjago, where Jay was desperate towards Nya's affection and attention, literal quote from s3:

"What did we talk about?"

"Right! Boundaries.."

Only now you can turn the colors around. Jay doesn't fall for Nya all over again, as much as I love Jaya, if prefer this much more from a writing standpoint. Tragic parallels my beloved!! Jay eventually does cave in and join them, purely because it's his last shot at getting a home, and getting away from the administration. He doesn't have anywhere else to go besides Ras, someone who threw him out after his first and only failure despite forgiving his other pupils for the same thing. The administration where he feels drained and empty. Or somewhere where people, at least pretend to, love him. Eventually he'll become more and more like the Jay we know, but he'll always be damaged. He'll always be broken. He'll always be shattered. And he'll still beat your high scores, Cole.

"yo, cousin!" an abrasive voice comes stumbling through carmy's office door without warning, "sugar is out here telling me some bullshit about you hiring servers? look we don't need that shit. a sandwich comes out i fucking hand it to them, boom. why are you gonna pay some dipshit to do it for me?". you turn around to face the loud voice, being met with a tall, tan, buzzcut typical line cook with a deep accent. "jesus fucking christ, one of these 'dipshits' is standing in front of you richie." carmy yells back, obviously pained to have you witness that. "ah shit-" richie steps back to get a full length view of you, taking you in. his gaze felt like an intrusion. "i'm sorry, doll, richie jerimovich." he envelopes your hand in his calloused and rough one, introducing himself. "you know what i'm sorry, cousin, anyone with a set of eyes would hire her too" he snickers, with his hand still atop yours he takes his eyes away from you to acknowledge carmen. "cousin, get the fuck out, you fucking creep!" signaling for the door. "oh my god" richie sighs dramatically, "i'm stating the fucking obvious alright, you need marcus to come in here to tell you the same thing? yo, marcus!" carmen rushes to shove richie out the door, "i'm sorry, i couldn't help myself! look, you're beautiful, sweetheart!" he lets out one last compliment. you giggle to yourself and the man making a spectacle of himself.

carmen shuts the office door and sighs, rubbing his forehead with his tired hand. "i'm sorry, he's... he's a fucking jagoff." you appreciate the apology, but having worked in a restaurant has you accustomed to the snickers and comments from line cooks and customers alike. most of the girls usually brush it off, leaving them disgusted and a distaste for the job for the next few hours. but, your guilty pleasure has become using it to your benefit. free food from cooks, more money from tips, etc. you're sure you could work richie to your benefit just the same. "don't worry about it, he seems... nice" your ease settles carmy and he snickers, "you could say that i guess".

you follow natalie around the restaurant for the next few hours as she takes you through the front of the house and back, introducing you to everyone and all the standards. when five o clock hits, she lets you go, handing you an apron, a t-shirt. and a name tag. thanking her and setting out to find the back alley for a quick ciggy. you find richie lighting a cigarette in the dimly lit alley, "can i bum a cigarette?" you sit down beside him, smelling the smoke clinging to his shirt. "its your first day and you're asking me for shit?" he looks over at you and you notice his evident wrinkles, veins in his neck, and tired eyes. "pretty please?" you look up at him, turning your whole body to face him with a sweet smile on your face. he rolls his eyes playfully, "you know what you're doing huh?" he says as he pulls one more cigarette from its box. "open." you scrunch your eyebrows, confused at his request. his eyes shift to your lips, taking two fingers and tapping your cheek signaling for you to open your mouth. "come on," you separate your lips and he places a cigarette between them, lighting it swiftly. you feel your cheeks get warm, from the cigarette or from his words you don't know (yes you do). "thank you" you say quietly, still stunned a bit. "you know you're gonna ruin that sweet face smoking" he coughs through the lit cigarette. "oh are you telling me what to do now, richie?" you lean back, eyes entranced by the way his hands make the cigarette almost look like a lollipop stick. "a girl like you is probably looking for someone to tell her what to do, sweetheart". as you're trying to figure out whether that just pissed you off or turned you on, carmy bursts through the back door. "cousin, what the fuck are you doing?! we need you in the kitchen, now please! and leave the new girl alone, jesus" carmy yells as richie stomps on what's left of his cigarette and puts his hands up in defense. "i'm coming, fuck off. it was a pleasure, babe" he shakes your hand and makes his way inside. you peer at the closed door, listening to the muffled argument carmy and richie have in front of it. great first day.

No. He really didn’t. He sighed at himself. He could never admit out loud that he didn’t hate you. And he would never say it. He slid his hand under your small wrist and tugged your arm off. And of course like clockwork your snoring halts and you jolt at the touch.

You blink once. Twice. And you’re sleeping on a hard chest. Your eyes dart up and you see that you’re not only sleeping on a Chest. But a handsome man.

You stare for a moment, then it hits you.

“AHH!” You jolt and almost fall off the bed.

How? What? Where am -?” You blubber out, your eyes barely blinking.

“What the fuck?” You yell and jump to your feet. Deans on his feet on the opposite side of the bed.

“What did you do to me!?” You snap.

He flies his hands up in defence “woah woah easy there. You fell asleep on me. I was just moving you. take it easy now”.

Your breathing is heavy your eyes wide. “I’m sleeping on the floor tonight” is all you say. “And this” you pant, swirling your pointer finger between the two of you then the bed. “Didn’t happen”

Dean grimaces then nods “agreed”.

“Well here we are. Wellsbrooke.” Dean says exiting the car. He looks to a wooden sign “Wellsbrooke the home of comfort” he scoffs “Pffft sure ain’t no comfort around here lately…” he murmurs. You follow him into the heart of the town, but avoid making eye contact. This morning was…weird. As you almost reach the sheriffs office you notice there’s an uncomfortable silence. “Dean…for a place people holiday to…isn’t it oddly quiet.”

“Yeah well deaths will do that to ya. Look at six flags”. He laughs to himself. But you shake your head. “No it’s like…I don’t know never mind” something about this town made your skin crawl, a pit formed in your gut.

Dean sighs loudly and rolls his eyes. “How about you go and ask some town folk at that little store over there.” Dean nods his head in the direction of a small candy store. “Really?” You say annoyed. “I’m not some child Dean”. He smirks and pats your head “so don’t act like one”

“You ass!” You slap his chest, feeling the wall of muscle under his shirt. “Point proven” he chuckles. You huff and bawl your fists. You have so much you wish you could say, but you turn in your heel and indeed investigate the candy store. “Fucking asshole”.

Dean began to investigate the sheriffs office, it took only five minutes, his fake ID, and some white lies to meet with the sheriff. “What can I do for you investigator Wilde”. A fake name Dean used with his fake ID. Dean eyes the name tag on the older man ‘Sheriff Layde’. Dean chuckled at the name, and shakes his hand. “Thank you for your time. My …partner-“ the word felt sour on his tongue. “Is questioning some other people for me. I’m here to help with these missing people and possible murders.”

“Oh the Big guys must of sent you here….yeah we’ve had some real trouble figuring this one out. Please take a seat”.

And so Dean sat and began his investigation.

You stroll into the candy store, the room is lit up nicely and there’s rows upon rows of assortments of candy. “Woah…” your eyes can’t stop bouncing from the many colours, brands, varieties, there’s so much. “Hello!” A booming voice startles you. A young man in a colourful uniform stands before you. “I’m Brandon and you’re my first customer of the day!” He smiles wide. He was pale with freckles, and soft green eyes. “I’m…your first customer? How is this place not loaded with people?” You notice it now. That not a single person is in the room with beside you and Brandon. “Work has gone quieter since…the deaths.” His voice lowers, sadness fills his eyes. “Well, Brandon, I’m here to help.” You fish out your fake ID and swiftly show it to him “Samantha pug. I work with the FBI.” Brandon looks down at the ID “your last name is pug?” Your face drops. Dean specifically have you this ID because pugs were (to him) the ugliest dog. He had to make another dig at you didn’t he? “Yep…that’s me” you purse your lips. “But don’t stress the details! Do you mind if I ask you some questions?” the boy nods. “Sure can do!” He smiled wide. “You don’t have to do that…whatever this is” you swish a finger around him. His face drops “s-sorry we have to act this way for work. It’s almost second nature to me now…” you give him a soft smile.

An hour.

A god damn hour it took to ask him questions. He loves to ramble and you got absolutely nothing out of him, other than the fact he is definitely a virgin and he could not stop staring at your chest. Feeling defeated you decide to trail back to Dean at the sheriffs office.

Dean had no idea how long it had been since he had entered the sheriffs office. He felt odd being alone. Was Y/N doing okay? He hopes you were safe. Soley so you don’t cause unnecessary issues for him…that’s all.

“So you’re telling me”- Dean began “that a new company took Over the warehouses by the docks? And that’s when the disappearances and deaths started happening?”

The sheriff nodded once. “And you investigated it with no evidence or any suspicion? Am I right?”

“Yes. The boss was kind and had passed the police check and background check. He is all clear.”

Dean nodded once “alright -“

A knock on the door interrupted the conversation and Y/N slipped in. Deans heart thundered but he rolled his eyes refusing to show that he was possibly relived Y/N was here. “Hey I’m sorry to interrupt.”

The sheriff didn’t look pleased but said nothing as Y/N sat down beside Dean. Deans gave Y/N a look that said ‘find anything’

She shook her head softly ‘nothing’. He frowned then faced the sheriff. “ if you could please give me the address for the warehouse I’m sure we could investigate it and see if there’s anything we missed”.

Dean didn’t have time to react

It all happened so fast.

And that’s when the attack happened.

Another song that never made it to spotify and it is an outrage. Kacha's voice is heavenly and the chorus of this song hits so hard. It's so sad and haunting and soft, and it captures the series perfectly.

I think we can all agree that Even Sun was ?? ???? but, you guys, this song! When it first came out I had it stuck in my head for WEEKS. I can't believe it's not on spotify. Taro Shatree is definitely on my radar now (even if he deleted like, half of his discography from spotify😭). The last customer finally left through the exit door, the small broken bell clanging against the pristine door. You were finally able to let out a sigh of relief and rub your hands across your tired features, your sunken and dreary eyes not getting any ounce of relief from the action. You knew better than to drag the close out so you lifted your head and with the reluctant groan your limbs let out you grabbed the shop keys, pushing yourself off the counter and towards the doors.

You didn’t hate the job, no no, you were surrounded by records, often bringing home releases before they were even publicly available. The shop was also on the busiest street so the pay was decent, above the minimum, and yet the shop remained relatively small in size -- the clientele was different though. Sometimes you had older customers who would ramble about their days, this being the only social interaction they would pry out of the repetitive days, others would be chipper, providing you with conversations stimulating enough in order to want them to continue ever on. Days like today were the worst though. First it was the rude client who didn’t say hello but stated he was there to pick something up under his name, grunting in reply to every other question. Second was the client who mockingly asked if you understood his Indiana accent -- you weren’t Indiana born and raised, no not at all. You were a New Englander and sometimes folks looked down on you for it, but not your boyfriend -- this same customer chewed you out stating that “we’re not in New England, doll.” You couldn’t stand him, you wanted to punch his lights out but instead you opted for your breathing exercises. 

The last customer, and frankly the worst was a customer who was asking about various bands that you knew you had stocked on the shelves and in record bins, just not in the section she would have expected, however, she started berating you and your dear coworkers about how improper the store was for not having “modern” music and how dare you keep her from opening the records to take a peak inside. When your coworker Jeff asked her to leave, she landed a slap across his face before his demeanour turned fridge, and his voice boomed like thunder telling her to leave of the authorities would be called, booking her for assault. You instructed Jeff to go home, ice his face, and take the next day to cool down, he could take a sick day and you’d be fine tomorrow, truthfully you were dreading it but that was just a small detail. You had a boyfriend to get home to. 

“Babe? I’m home!” You called out to your boyfriend. The frizzy haired boy poked his head from the kitchen, a mug of tea at the ready for you, a smile adorning his face until his doe eyes landed on you. His expression fell and a look of concern replaced his chipper mood. 

“Oh, oh no, what happened sweetheart?” He cooed, allowing you the space to take your shoes off. As your anxiety seeped from your very core and into your heart, to your mind, you r movements had tendency to get a little more agressive than they normally would be. It wasn’t an intentional reaction, in fact it was one you barely noticed until Eddie had pointed it out to you one day when you had calmed down -- you felt so ashamed but he didn’t mind, he would just ask you what you needed and if you needed anything from him at all, a hug, some tea, a blanket, anything. Eddie dotted on you, especially now that his work was going through some... hardships. 

“I just- customers.” You hissed out, padding over into the living room, Eddie following you like a lost puppy. You dropped your keys into the little wooden bowl that was bought so that you would remember to put them in one place, not that it worked too well. Often enough it was abandoned, forgotten, and used as a glorified decoration until something else took home in it. Something. that didn’t belong. 

After collapsing into the couch with a sigh, you gingerly took your mug of tea from Eddie and thanked him, leaning up to gently kiss his jaw as he positioned himself beside you. You drank him in, long curly hair flowing down his shoulders, bangs wildly splayed across his forehead, the sleeved of his Hellfire shirt up to his elbows with his tattoos on full display. He rejected his jeans in favour of comfort in his own home but there were still elements of Eddie, your metalhead, adorning him even in his casual loungewear -- his rings, for instance were still on his fingers, and god what you’d let him do to you with them on... but now wasn’t that time. 

“Talk to me, sweetheart.” He cooed before planting a firm kiss to your head, scooting closer, and draping his arm around your waist. You took this moment to lean your head on his shoulder before letting out a semi-relaxed sigh, eyes fixated on the steam pouring from your mug. 

“It’s just gotten tougher at work. I mean, it’s not that I don’t like the job, I do, but it’s getting repetitive in the day to day tasks. The people are getting meaner and I don’t think I’m built for that. The nicest customer I had today ignored me until I asked if she wanted a receipt and then curtly said goodbye. It’s like I’m not even a human.” you lamented. At this admission Eddie frowned, and the more you recanted your day, the more his chestnut eyes seemed to glaze over with a certain melancholy. The very last interaction nearly had him in a full rage -- Jeff was his friend after all, and he would call later to see if he was okay, but right now, you were his priority, you with the beautiful sad eyes and the gentle touch. You with a voice barely above a whisper and the tonality of a thousand hearts breaking all at once. You, his partner, his love, his life, his breath even. 

“Come here, babe.” He gently tugged the mug from your hands, his cold rings brushing your knuckles, a shiver running down your spine. “I want you to know it’s not your fault. They’re assholes and you don’t deserve to put up with their shit. They’re taking out their bad day on you and it’s not fair. You’re not their punching bag, baby. You’re so much more than that and you deserve respect. They’re just a bunch of ill mannered ass baskets and I wish I could be there to help you more directly.” His voice put you in a trance as he placed the mug gently on the coffee table and pulled you on top of him. You were both now laying on the couch horizontally as he played with your hair, toying with the smooth locks you worked hard to upkeep. “I know we’re in a bit of a,” he hesitates, “spot right now with the strike, but if you need to find a job elsewhere, if you need to take time off, just say the word. I’ll be right here.” He places a kiss on your head. The smell of stale cigarettes, perfume, motor oil, and brass consume you as you press your face to the crook of his neck, an all consuming smell that was just... home.

“I... I don’t want to be stuck here forever, Eds, I want to have a good job that I love. I feel so trapped in this corner of the labour field and I-” a shaky breath rattles your body, and in response Eddie holds you tighter. “I’m tired of being treated like shit by people who don’t know me. I’m so tired of having to tend to whoever it is that walks through those doors. I don’t know how much longer I can hold on. It’s not so much the job, it’s the people who come in... and maybe... Maybe it is the job a little..” you admit mostly to yourself. It’s the first time you’ve vocalised it. “It’s just so repetitive. Sometimes I feel so stupid, Eds. It’s such simple work and I can’t focus on it.” You let a little sob break through. Your boyfriend hushes you softly, rubbing your back in comforting circular motions. 

“It’ll be okay, just hold on to me, I’ve got you. We’ve got each other.” He whispers in a low voice, one you’ve heard many times, in many contexts, but this time it goes to your heart, bats fluttering in the hollow of your chest. “Did I ever tell you about my first job?” He asks you, you furrow your brow. “I took it to help Wayne with the bills,” he casually admits, “it wasn’t a good job, it wasn’t even a great job, but it did it because the man put up with my ass and didn’t kick me to the curb. He gave me food, shelter, love... and I needed to return the favour, or I felt like I had to. I’m not proud of what I did, but I dealt at parties and I’m just glad I don’t need to do that anymore, not that my situation is particularly sunshine and rainbows right now, sweetheart.” He sighs out, hands trailing along your spine. “Sometimes I’d get my teeth kicked in at these parties, other times I’d come home with a fractured rib, but the cash it brought in to make Uncle Wayne’s life easier was... god it was a relief. But I don’t want you to do what I did. I don’t want you to get yourself beat to bring money in for us. I’m not going anywhere, you got that sweetheart?” He coos, receiving a series of small nods from you. 

“Babe?” You hum, Eddie’s chest vibrating as he hums in return. “Have you ever just wanted to run away.” 

“Always, sweetheart. But I have you now, I’m done running.” He kisses your head gently, both of you melting into one another. Quiet ‘I love you’’s were exchanged between you that night, soft sweet nothings filled with promises you both would keep and only each other’s arms to keep you safe from the emotional baggage that would inevitably be hurled your way. None of that existed right now. It was only you and Eddie against the world.
